How to choose among three route types
IEPL dedicated, relay, and direct routes are not simply better or worse tiers. They use different access paths, with different costs, routing methods, and use cases. The right choice considers the destination, time of use, and task together.
DEDICATED PATH
IEPL dedicated
IEPL dedicated routes emphasize a controlled cross-border transmission path. Traffic first enters through a designated access point, then reaches the target exit over a dedicated link, with less reliance on the public network along the way. Their value is not a momentary peak speed, but a controllable path with fluctuations that are easier to manage.
These routes are generally suited to long video meetings, sustained file transfers, remote desktops, and work that requires connection continuity. When voice, video, and shared documents must stay connected during collaboration, trying a dedicated route first is more likely to deliver a stable result.
Dedicated routes cost more to build and maintain, so they do not need to be used for every lightweight task. For ordinary browsing, quick lookups, or access with no strict regional requirement, test a relay or direct route first and reserve the dedicated route for critical work and busy periods.
RELAY PATH
Relay
A relay route sends the connection to a suitable entry point first, then forwards it through an intermediate location to the target region. Its purpose is to avoid an unfavorable direct path and create a better combination between entry and exit. For cross-continent access, relays can often balance regional choice with everyday stability.
Relay routes suit streaming, AI tools, regular office work, and extended browsing. When the target service is in North America or Europe but the direct path from your network to the target city is unstable, try a nearby entry point and let the relay route reach the required exit. The city in a route name usually indicates the final exit, so do not judge it only by entry-point distance.
Because a relay adds a routing segment, the experience depends on both the entry and exit states. When the connection changes, do not jump repeatedly between entirely different regions. Keep the target city fixed and compare relay and direct routes in the same region first; this usually makes the cause easier to identify.
DIRECT PATH
Direct
A direct route goes from the current network straight to the target exit without an additional access relay. Its structure is simpler, with fewer routing steps, making it suitable when the existing path from the local network to the target region is already good. It is also useful for quickly checking whether an exit region meets a website or content platform’s requirements.
Start with a direct route for everyday browsing, short lookups, regional checks, and lightweight apps. If the connection is stable and the target service works normally, there is no need to switch simply because another route type sounds more advanced. The goal is to complete the task, not to favor one fixed type.
Direct routes depend more on the public path between the current network provider and the target region. The same city may perform differently across networks and times of day. If pages stop loading or persistent connections become unstable, keep the destination region and switch to a relay in that region; for critical work, try an IEPL dedicated route.
COST LOGIC
Cost differences come from routing and resource allocation
Dedicated routes require more controlled cross-border links and access resources, with maintenance focused on path stability and ongoing routing. Relay routes manage the entry, intermediate path, and exit at once, making resource allocation more complex than direct routes while enabling flexible combinations across more regions. Direct routes have the simplest structure and work well as regular entry points and regional testing tools.
Route type should not determine the plan by itself.
